Data Protection & Privacy Policy

Personal Data and the Order of Cross

An individual’s confidentiality is protected by the Data Protection Act and, from 25th May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2016 (PECR). Personal information supplied by members to the Order of the Cross will be kept on file and stored securely; these data will be deleted once they are no longer relevant. Paper copies of past Lists of Members (which includes addresses) will be kept securely, for historical purposes.

Personal Data

These data include title, name, address, post-code, telephone number (optional), on-line e-mail address (optional). This information is required to provide the service that is expected by an Order of the Cross Member. Lists of Members will be kept by individual Trustees, Members of the United Councils Executive and other Order Office holders authorised by the Trustees. These data will be stored securely and are held by the Trustees.

Accessibility

The Trustees will allow members’ information to be used only by others working on their behalf and if required by law. The Order of the Cross will not share members’ information with other companies or charities for marketing purposes.
Members have the right to access a copy of the information the Order of the Cross holds about them (a subject access request) obtainable, subject to proof of identity, from the Trustees: The Order of the Cross, The Abbey, The Green, Sutton Courtenay, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 4AF.  Email: light@orderofthecross.org
Members have a right to object to the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) if they feel that the Order of the Cross is not handling their data in a satisfactory manner.
